FAYETTE COUNTY COURTHOUSE RETAINING WALL

McMillen Engineering, Inc. collaborated with the County on an extensive project aimed at enhancing the infrastructure and safety of several key areas. The centerpiece of this initiative was the replacement of three aging retaining walls, which were crucial for stabilizing the surrounding terrain and ensuring the safety of nearby structures.

Project scope for the Fayette County Courthouse Retaining Wall included:

  • Base Mapping

  • Preliminary Site Plan

  • Stormwater Management Plans

  • Erosion Control

  • Construction Engineering and Inspection

In addition to the retaining walls, the project involved comprehensive improvements to the parking lot. This included not only resurfacing and reconfiguring the parking spaces but also replacing the concrete curb and sidewalk to ensure they met current safety and accessibility standards. The installation of storm inlets and piping was a critical component, designed to improve drainage and prevent flooding during heavy rainfall.

Furthermore, the project included the installation of electrical conduits for gates and lighting, which enhanced both the functionality and security of the area. Landscaping efforts were also undertaken to improve the aesthetic appeal and environmental sustainability of the site. Finally, meticulous line striping and pavement markings were added to clearly delineate parking spaces and traffic flow, thereby improving overall safety for both pedestrians and vehicles.

These comprehensive improvements not only addressed immediate safety concerns but also provided long-term solutions to ensure the area remains safe, functional, and visually appealing for years to come.
